Weekend Errands
Fri
Azure brined, spring sky
reclined on my rooftop I
spy with my little
I witness a gull’s direct flight
Sound to child, fish
flip-flopping in its beak,
criss-crossing a jetstream.
Sat
Horizon hangs gray, Olympics
don their cloud-bunch
collar a woman, more hat than
head, strafes the street
groceries flip-flopping
bus criss-crossing the
line, the lane.
Sun
Technicolor scald, bulb’s
bounty. Got further
from town. Got closer
to town. Two men, more gap than
tooth, in flip flops their
RC cars criss-crossed the
view.

Beautiful weekend up here in the PNW. I observed, and strangely registered, three distinct encounters between living things and some mode of transit/vehicle. The similarity and unity struck me, despite the vast difference in errand.
Anyway, fun prompt + two bonus pictures from a “mountain” in Anacortes, overlooking the Sound and the Tulip Festival in Skagit Valley.
Not sure why I’m enjoying wordplay so much these days. I haven’t felt inclined to play much music lately… working on some other projects… so maybe it’s the music urge coming out? Regardless, words are fun.
Thanks for reading.
