This City's A Star
Here I am, once again, with an undercooked song idea! This one feels more full band-y to me, so I’ll add more things at some point. Hope you enjoy.
Not final lyrics… probably.
This city’s a star
I’m happier
Glints in the sun
Sometimes
Looks like me
But wiser
You are what you love
What you save takes time
I’ve got an ear-marked bible
Left it in the rain
It’s marked up like a snowflake
With the things I couldn’t say
Take care, take part
Dear
The future’s on the run
I’ve got an ear-marked bible
Left it in the rain
It’s marked up like a snowflake
With the things I couldn’t say
I wrote them in a past life
Now they’re on my tongue again
I know them like a brother
This one is up for interpretation… mostly about identity in a new place. The line about “you are what you love, what you save takes time” was inspired by a Wendell Berry quote about environmentalism "You exploit what you value, you save what you love.”
