In the stars we see what we want to see.
Infinite ways to connect points of light,
toward story. Re-story again.
James Webb saw heaven’s wallpaper through
a dance of convex and concave. An eye in the sky,
spun outwards, neglecting Gaia, friend of Starlink.
Conjure constellation - colliding light. Something
with more of a fisheye lens. Something to augment the
blood moon rising just outside of Phoenix.
I’m currently enchanted by this idea of “restorying” (or at least how I understand it). Rethinking and retelling the relationships, myths and images of humans to better serve our present, while still honoring our past and future. Story, when done well, can serve as a guide — a means of engaging with that which is around you now and what may one day be around you. This recent conversation with the phenomenal
is a testament to what story can do.Did you see the photos from the James Webb telescope a while back? I think I wrote that line about James Webb when they came out, glad they found a home these months later and prompted this poem!
You may see Starlink flying over you some time … it vaguely looks like an above shot of a line of geese walking down the road.
