Gray Matters
It’s better in black and white.
Not old, necessarily.
Just the shades. Nearly
intricate. All senses come
together towards meaning.
A colorblind boy,
a tomato farmer.
Couldn’t see red or
green. Somehow, time again,
picking the ones you
could eat just like apples.
In the shadowy in-between
absence teaches excess.
Wisdom knows it is the corner of the room.
I’ve been thinking about nuance and subtlety lately. I also read an artist I like describe the artists he likes as “having a dialogue with an unseen light” which I think has interesting implications on shade/shadows. This is a thought-inspiring essay if you’re interested in the role of shadows.
