Alpenglow
For years, and still, my face
burned crimson at the spotlight of
attention. Perhaps I’ve gotten
it more under control, but
that day I caught your eyes
— I mean, you could
have looked at anything! — a sliver
of scarlet kissed my cheek.
Fleeting, and yet.
From Wikipedia: Alpenglow refers to indirect sunlight reflected or diffracted by the atmosphere after sunset or before sunrise. This diffuse illumination creates soft shadows in addition to the reddish color. The term is also used informally to include direct illumination by the reddish light of the rising or setting sun, with sharply defined shadows.
The photo above is only kinda alpenglow… but it’s what I’ve got :)
I enjoyed thinking of alpenglow as a response to embarrassment - a mountain knowing its being looked at. This train of thought led me to a little love poem.
Fact: I did/do blush a lot though…
