A Sort of Homecoming
Gathering is
one face
of loving.
Invitation.
Full table.
Communion by
a different
name. Loved
ones find
time, close
distance.
Arrive.
Arrive.
Crow
returns
to find
twig, twine
or otherwise.
Squirrel
and I
fill our cheeks
to bursting.
The title is a reference to a great U2 song, “A Sort of Homecoming”. I’ve always been struck by the phrase because of its music, but also because of the way that people make the homecoming more than a space does. Reuniting, no matter where, tends to feel like some kind of homecoming.
Lots of reflections on gathering by Priya Parker.
The title made me think of watching birds and squirrels ‘gather’ materials for their nest. Another sort of homecoming.
Have a wonderful holiday season and wishing you moments of homecoming and lots of food 🙂 Back in 2023!
